Director's Call
Are you a playwright or director? The Company @ Old Town Theatre is issuing a CALL FOR DIRECTORS for the 2019-20 Season.
In order to achieve the highest quality possible, we are looking for creative, talented and experienced directors who are interested in creating theatrical magic on our stage. The Process Potential Directors for Spring and Summer 2019 productions will need to submit and present a PROPOSAL FOR REVIEW to The Company Committee for consideration by no later than Friday, March 1, 2019. The Proposal, much like a grant application, will include a detailed budget proposal and the director's/playwright's resume. The Committee will review the Proposals, generate a list of suggested productions for the upcoming season and present the list to the Old Town Theatre Board of Directors for review. The Board of Directors will review the recommended productions and approve or disapprove each recommendation. If the Board of Directors rejects one or more of the Committee’s recommendations, the Committee will either provide alternative choice(s) or reopen the process for additional submissions. The board also may elect not to fill a particular “performance” time slot if an acceptable play submission is not available. The Board of Directors will notify all submitting entities of acceptance or decline and will provide a brief explanation as to why a production was declined. Final decisions typically take four to six weeks after the deadline closes. If you plan to submit a proposal for a large production, please feel free to submit your proposal a year in advance to allow the extra time that might be required for pre-planning. The Company Committee will happily entertain proposals for the 2019-20 season at the December submission meeting. If you have a proposal that you feel could qualify for grant funding, please coordinate with us to ensure the time necessary to plan and submit. The Company at Old Town Theatre's production (fiscal year) calendar runs from September 1 through August 31. Note: Any plays submitted by members of the committee will be given the same consideration as plays submitted by individuals not on the Company Committee, and will be judged purely on merit.
